Hogwarts Confections: The Hufflepuff Cookie

I feel bad for making Hufflepuff go last. Out of all the houses, it's usually the one that's being made fun of. But, really, you've got to give these guys credit. They're not uptight, nor do they backstab, and (lets face it) they probably procrastinate better than most of us. Also, Cedric Diggory. Cedric. Diggory.

In order to make these Badgers proud, we made the biggest, most delicious chocolate chip cookie I could rustle up. Because Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders, we stuffed the cookies full of little things: caramilk, kit kats, peanut butter cups, whatever we saw fit. Then, to top it all off, I dipped half of it in chocolate.

All of these cookies will be available at our Harry Potter fundraiser (info coming up soon!). These particular little giant beauties will also be available at the very last Tri Cities Baker's Market - which runs this Saturday, from 10 until 2 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre. Along with with the Hufflepuff Cookies, there will be cupcake push pops, pies on sticks, and a variety of baked good that will absolutely melt your face.

And, if you can't make it to the Baker's Market, at least you'll have a chance to bring a little bit of Hogwart's to you.

The Hufflepuff Cookie
15 giant cookies

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups dark chocolate mini chocolate chips
Assorted chocolate candy (we used peanut butter cups, kit kats, and caramilk)

1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, whisk together your flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.

2)With a mixer, mix your butter and two sugars until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well in-between. Add your vanilla and mix.

3) With a wooden spoon, stir your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients. Just when your batter is starting to form, add the chocolate chips and continue to stir until everything has come together. Set in the refrigerator until slightly chilled.

4) Start forming golf-ball sized pieces of dough. Flatten one slightly and place some pieces of candy in the middle of it. Then take another piece of dough and cover the top of the candy. Roll the dough in your hands, making sure that any edges are closed and smoothed. Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes, or until your cookies have begun to take on a lovely golden glow. Take out and enjoy. Go Hufflepuff!

Hufflepuff cookies! I have been looking forward to these since you started this series, and they definitely do not disappoint! These will definitely be made in the near future!

Drooling. These are the kind of cookies I like...thick and chewy and full of goodies! Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe. This was perfect lunch-reading-material. I only wish I could have had a bite! I hope you have a lovely evening.
