In case you didn't hear, they lost. And took it pretty hard.
Seeing the riots was a bit surreal. It was seriously like you were stuck on the set of The Walking Dead. Only, instead of zombies ruining everything, it was a bunch of 20 year old jerks who figured it was suddenly socially acceptable to go around and break stuff. The crowd itself was the monster, hitting everything and anything in its path. Worse were the lookie-loos who thought it was pretty cool to get their picture taken in front of the burning cop cars. (Yeah dude, totally use that for your facebook profile picture. That's not douchy at all.)
The city, so well behaved during the Olympics, is pretty ashamed of itself now. Personally, I'm super pissed off. Yes, there's much anger directed at that handful of assholes who broke apart our beautiful city and looted what was left of it. But I'm more angry at the fact that the hockey game, the spark of all this, is pretty much forgotten.
I'll just say it: the Bruins wore the Canucks down to the bone. The Swedish twins were shut down completely, Bobby Lou looked completely lost, and the rest of the boys didn't even bother to show up at the game. Instead of recognizing what a great series both Boston and Vancouver had, we're all too embarrassed about the burning trash cans to even give it a second thought.
So, here's some cookies for you, Boston. You did a heck of a job. And I am seriously willing to be the president of the Tim Thomas fan club.
Vancouver, you can have some cookies too. And, while you're at it, why don't you consider moving to Massachusetts? There's probably less riots. And they have a way better hockey team.
The Best Thing About Massachusetts
They have a whole city that is devoted to Halloweenie things
The Worse Thing About Massachusetts
Ben Affleck.
Why Should I Visit?
The history is awe-inspiring.
Why Should I Not Visit?
Because you own a Yankees cap. (Seriously, they will kill you)
Got A Cookie Recipe For Us?
A totally wicked one.
Boston Cream Pie Cookies
recipe adapted from Cookie Madness
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup salted butter
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cups cornstarch
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1) Heat your oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Set aside.
2) With an electric mixer, whip up both sugars with your butter until light and fluffy. Add the egg, oil, and vanilla extract (one at a time) and mix well in-between. With a wooden spoon, stir in your dry ingredients and mix until you've created one cohesive dough, which will be pretty soft. Chill the dough if needed.
3) Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners. Drop about an inch-round ball of dough into each liner. Press the middle down a bit with your thumb. Bake for about 7-10 minutes (while the cookie is still white with its edges just beginning to golden), then take it out and quickly use a quarter teapoon to press the middle of the cookie down into a little divot. Bake for another 5 minutes, or until they are completely cooked and golden. Set aside to cool before taking them out of their liners.
Cream Filling
1/4 cup unsalted butter
3 Tablespoons of cream
2 Tablespoons vanilla custard powder
1 cup icing sugar
1) Cream butter, cream, and custard powder together. Add the icing sugar slowly and whip until light. Carefully spoon into the cooled cookies' divots. Set in the freezer until you are ready for the final topping.
Chocolate Ganache
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1) Melt slowly over a double boiler. Let cool for 5, then dip the tops of the frozen cookies into the ganache. Let any extra drip off. Cool in the refrigerator until the ganache hardens. Enjoy.

LOL, had to delete my first post...should have read your post a little more carefully ;)
These cookies look scrumptious! What a creative treat!
I love this post! I am from the Boston area and was thrilled that the Bruins won but I did feel for the Canucks they did a great job as well. I always hate to see anyone loose that works so hard at somethng.
It was distressing to see the way some people reacted. It is always hard to understand people when they act that way.
Your cookies look awesome! I am a big Boston cream pie fan and it sounds incredible as a cookie. I will definitely have to try these.
It was a shame to see Vancouver lose but, the Bruins were the better team and they deserved it. The mess that happened afterwards was idiotic.
These cookies, however, are quite brilliant!
Yummy! My husband's an even bigger fan of Boston cream pie than I so I know he'd love these.
Wonderful post and great recipe. I love Boston, hate the Red Sux. I'm a Bronx born Yankee loving, cap wearing, missing Bernie Williams die-hard Yankee Fan!!!!! Oh yea, again, love those cookies. J
Holy moly, those look good! I enjoyed your post. I'm a New York native who's lived in Boston for 6 years, and I just stay out of the baseball/hockey/football melees. :)
