Manly Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies

Let's take another dip into the Movember pot with a mustache that is universally loved and revered. You've seen it everywhere - on your dad, on that Nascar guy, on those cops on that corner of Hastings. It's not a flashy mo, like the Dali or Walrus. Nor is it intimidating, like the Handlebar. It's just simply . . .

 The Chevron.

In the mustache hierarchy, the chevron is a classic that is always a staple in a man's facial hair repertoire. Though it may look simple, this mo is more complex than it looks. Men must tease the hair over-top of their upper lip - anything shorter is considered a failure. Boy, the things a man does for mustache superiority -  could you image eating with that thing? Talk about your flavour-saver, dude. I bet Tom Selleck grew used to tasting breakfast while he was eating dinner. You could keep extra ice cream and cookie crumbs in there for weeks.

Speaking of cookie crumbs, we've got a treat for you that really will get your Chevron bristling:

chocpretzel (5)

Imagine the perfect chocolate chip cookie - it's every man's favourite. Yes, you've got your oreos and oatmeals cookies, but the chocolate chip is a constant superstar in the cookie-jar. Add another manly snack food - the pretzel - and this new concoction will really throw things over the testosterone edge. These little perfect joys are easy to make (and to consume). There's really nothing fancy about the chocolate chip pretzel cookie - just like the Chevron - but that won't stop you from snacking on them every chance you get.

Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies
Makes about one and a half dozen cookies

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. coarse salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
1 cup broken up pretzel pieces

1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, whisk together your flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.

2) In a large mixing bowl, cream together you butter and two sugars. Add the egg and vanilla and mix some more.

3) Using a wooden spoon, slowly stir in the dry ingredients until most of it is incorporated. Add the chocolate chips and the pretzel pieces and evenly distribute throughout the dough with your hands.

4) Roll dough balls with your hands, about size of a golf ball, and place them in your baking sheet. Press them down a bit and then throw them into the oven for about ten minutes, or until golden brown. Take out and consume when warm with a beer while the hockey game is on.

This is the last weekend you'll have to enter the Movember Manly Cupcake Challenge! You better hurry up! Time's a wastin'!

Aren't these great? I made a batch a few months ago, and they were insanely popular. Who doesn't love chocolate and pretzels? I know my man does! Thank you for sharing. I hope your weekend is full of love and fun.

Oh yum. What a fabulous combination. Chevron or no. These are definitely manly cookies. Though I'd be all about stealing a bite.
