Get Ready For Halloween with $60 from CSN!

Sorry kiddies, the contest is over! Stay tuned for more giveaways soon!

We go a little ga-ga for Halloween. Well, I go a little ga-ga for Halloween. My planning begins in August - I have to make sure everything is ready way before October even begins. Costumes needs to be established before Value Village is completely picked over. Baked goods need to be prepped so we can get out cookie boxes out into the world well before the big day. Decorations for our house need be at the ready because, after Canadian Thanksgiving, this place needs to be channeling the Adams Family.

Okay, I go a bit crazy when it comes to decorations. Last year, after moving to our new apartment, we had nothing but a skeleton to put up. So depressing. This year will be different - I've been collecting decorations all through the year. Almost enough to get the right spooky atmosphere that I'm going for. But I don't think Mr. C would like if I changed our curtains into black lace and covered our couches with orange and purple fabric. I was even on CSN, looking at black dining sets. Ours is way to Ikea-cookie-cutter to be scary.

I think Martha gives me some unrealistic expectations. I mean, look at this table setting:

Amazing. But realistic? Maybe if I had unlimited time and money. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Well, we can't help you with the unlimited time thing, but C&C and CSN are partnering up again to give you $60 to help you make your house a little more spooky. Or, you know, to replace that broken blender. But make sure you buy that black blender.

Here's how you enter:

1) Leave us a comment telling us how you prepare for Halloween. Do you set up a Haunted House for the kids on your street? Do you make a really gory costume? Do you set up your table just like Martha does?

2) You must follow us to qualify for the giveaway. Click on the little Google Follower button on the right hand side, and Bob's yer Uncle.

3) For a second entry, tweet this message: "Check out @CCCakery 's Super Spooky CSN Giveaway:  http://tinyurl.com/2bakv4j " then leave me a separate comment here telling me you've done so.

4) I'll be rolling my nerd dice once again on Sunday, October 3 in order to pick a winner. That means all comments must be entered by midnight on Saturday.

Good luck, all you ghouls and ghosties!

We're simple people. We prepare just by getting loads and loads of candy and waiting by the door.

We keep our Halloween decorations up all year long. Not because we're lazy like those folks who don't bother to take down their Christmas lights until August, but because we love the spooky stuff so much we've incorporated it into our regular decor. We do add a few creepy things and rearrange a bit so the kids who come to the door can see our six-foot-tall animatronic vampire but otherwise we keep most of the Halloween fun to ourselves, safely tucked away inside.

We bake a lot of Halloween goodies...which reminds me that I need to start planning! It always amazes me to see what Martha suggests in her magazines...you have to be very wealthy to pull some of her ideas off!

I'm a new follower.

We get hundreds of trick-or-treaters, and some of them scare (cry) easily.

To get ready I vow each year to rake no leaf until after Halloween. I also go to Michael's and buy $30 worth of glow bracelets to pass out to the beggars. (This gives us 450 bracelets)

Beyond that, my big girl wants to be a Who for Halloween this year, and her costume is going to be a toughy.

I love Halloween! I have all sorts of decorations that I add to a little each year. This year I've already gotten 10 new candleholders, strobe lights for the jack o lanterns, and more window clings. From the doormat on, it's cutesy spook at our house.

FUN! We have a huge party every year, with full-on decor and costumes. Last year we gave out 1200 goodie bags--no that was not a typo!

This is our first Halloween in a house (vs condo) so I'm super excited about handing out candy to all the neighbourhood kids and , of course, decorating the house!! You're right about Martha - she sets the bar high!!!

We put up decorations and have candy available. We live in a rural area and have not gotten trick or treaters for the past 3 years.

I am terrible and don't really decorate at all for Halloween. For years and years, I made elaborate costumes for my kids. At least they were decorated!

I start making costumes for the family in the summer. We used to do themed groups, now it's just my sig-o and I that dress in tandem. This year we are doing a repeat from three years ago because of the Zombie Survival Ball except he will be part if the Zombie Aurvival hunter crowd and I will be a pregnant Zombie. We still have makeup, stage, and bullet holes etc. My sig-o's costume took a bit more investment.

For the house I line the driveway with mini pumpkin luminaries and carve intricate pumpkins and hang twinkle lights. Not scary but festive. I make a wreath and being pagan we celebrate the feast of the dead. So our table is decorated.

and We hang the skeleton and ghost that my son made in 2nd grade my the front entrance. I also sweep the sidewalks so there aren't any leaves or pine needles the kids could slip on if it's damp outside.

I prepare by buying lots of Hershey's miniatures, and then eating them. I haven't dressed up in a few years, but I'd like to start doing it again!

We love having Halloween parties. We usually set up half of the house for the kiddos, and half for the grown ups. We usually make things like orange cotton candy (I got one of those little household cotton candy machines, super helpful for these sort of occasions), caramel apples, oodles of miniature candy bars, popcorn balls, and fun green/orange sherbet punch for the kids, and a little alcohol for the grownups. We like to decorate with spiderwebs, pumpkins, spooky little knick knacks and other Halloween-y festive goodies.

Thanks for the cool giveaway
