Do you and your significant other ever slip into a little baby talk? Admit it. Don't be embarrassed. I'm convinced that a good amount of couples do. Not in public (hopefully). No, I expect these little coos and goos come from behind closed doors. And I expect cuddling is involved as well. Gross.
Mr. C and I have our own form of this silly little language. Most of the time, however, it is not used for terms of endearment. It's usually employed during awkward, embarrassing, and painful situations. Or, you know, general moments of weakness. Stub your toe? "Oh, my poor poor baby boy!" Feel a little cold? "Baby's got to be a big girl and put on some sockies!". Have no clean underwear left? "Oh, snookums needs to do a washie!". Now, because this is a written blog, I cannot convey to you the proper amount of sarcasm that is used. But, let me assure you, it's absolutely scathing.
Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure we just secretly loath each other.
Yep.
Well then. Here's some love muffins for your own little love muffin.
Strawberry Love Muffins
adapted slightly from Foy Update
Makes about 12 muffins
1 beaten egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup strawberry juice from frozen strawberries
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/4 cup powdered non-fat milk
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups AP flour
1/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup frozen strawberries (defrosted and with juice drained)
mini dark chocolate chips
1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, vegetable oil, strawberry juice, and orange juice together until slightly frothy. Add the powdered milk and sugar and continue whisking.
2)Sift in the rest of the dry ingredients: your two flours, baking powder, and salt. Stir with a wooden spoon until a thick batter. Stir in your strawberries until they are distributed throughout. Spoon two heaping spoonfuls into each muffin liner. Sprinkle some chocolate chips on top if you'd like. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until they are golden and your cake tester comes out clean. Cool before serving with a little butter or plain yogurt.

Baby talk or not, these do look tasty. It is hard to deny the classic combo of strawberries and chocolate-yum! I will save these and I won't just reserve them for Valentines. Delicious post!
Haha! Baby-talk. I do think most couples do it...at least some of the time. These muffins look fabulous! Thank you for sharing with me...and thank you for leaving sweet comments on my blog. They mean so much. I hope you are having a great weekend!
I think we've been married too long for that...but you should hear us talk to the dog :) Great muffins!
these muffins look delicious! bookmarking these to try soon :)
I love this. My husband and I used to have semi-appropriate pet names (nothing too baby-talky), but after a time of constantly using silly, playground-taunt nicknames, it has become commonplace to call each other stinky, farty, and butthead. Seriously. When coming through the door, home from work, I will genuinely greet my husband with "Hey farty, how was work?" No sarcasm. No laughing like third graders at the insult. Just love. And, he will answer my question as though we are a normal couple. Thank God we found each other :)
